2012 New Zealand Trampoline Nationals

Well I have moved and also been away dowe to Dunedin with Kristen for the 2012 NZ National Trampoline Championships.  While no NZ titles to match the two she got last year, it was close.

Kristen got 2nd on 15-16 yr Womens Double-mini Trampoline.  Missing out in first place by 0.3.  She was devastated over it.  I had to keep on reminding her that she is lucky as some people go to Nationals for years and never medal.  She was also injured which didn't help one bit.  I think what may have bugged her was she hadn't been beaten since March 2011.  She was over it anyway by that night and the next day went on to win bronze in the 15-16 Women Syncro Trampoline, which she thought she wouldn't get anywhere in. Then on the last day she got 4th on Trampoline which she was happy with as it was a tough competition in the age group this year.

While down in Dunedin we went for a drive to the worlds steepest street.  I didn't walk it but Kristen did.

Fun time had by all

ALL BLACKS!!!

Two weeks ago I was at the Auckland Airport waiting for Kristen and my flight back to Gisborne after she competed in the North Island Trampoline Championships.  Yes, another gold came home for Double-mini trampoline.....again. Now unbeaten in NZ for over a year.

Anyway, we were sitting in the bar with the rest of the team and get informed by one of the younger team members that the All Blacks were there.  Now after my undignified run through the airport after Trampoline Nationals last year to catch a glimpse of this awesome rugby team (made up with a much envied photo of me and Sonny Bill Williams), I stated I was not going to go this time and see them.  Less than one minute later I was again running through the airport to get a glimpse of them and photos on my phone.  I always seem not to have my flash camera with me when needed most.

There were definitely some very excited kids on the flight home that evening.

A New Zealand National Age Group Champion

What an exciting weekend Kristen has just had.  We were away up in Auckland for the 2011 Gymsport NZ National Championships which she competed Trampoline in for the Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay region.  Going into them she was a strong contender for a placing, however there were some South Islander girls quite good as well, including one who has been competing in the International group this year.

First day Kristen had to compete both Double-mini Trampoline and Syncronised Trampoline so a long day.

First up was the 15-16yr Double-mini.  Kristen pulled of two great passes and managed to be going into finals 2nd placed.  Unfortunately in the finals some off the top girls crashed in their passes and couldn't catch up to the top girls and then the girl coming first also did not do her passes right, so even with Kristen landing in the yellow square (long explanation) and instantly losing 0.9 of her mark she still won confincingly.
So a happy girl.

1st Double-Mini Trampoline

Then onto 17yr+ Syncro Trampolining that evening.  Even though the girls had been there all day waiting for this they done well.  Only 2 pairs were competing so a medal definately, but which one?  Kristen was freaking out as the other pair were doing such higher skills than her and her partner and was settling for 2nd place.  But when they competed you could definately see who was the better...big skills or not.  Again another title won easily and way ahead of the other girls.  So again a happy girl with two NZ titles to her name.

1st Syncronised Trampoline

Then roll on Sunday and 15-16yr Individual Tramp.  Kristen knew it was going to be sheer luck getting a medal in this one, though she was aiming for one.  Other years she hadn't even made the finals, but we knew this year she would.  After her set routine, she was coming 7th so knew she would have to do a good voluntary rountine to even get into the top 3.  Well she done it and was coming 3rd going into finals.  A very excited girl she was.  Her Vol routine was not as good in finals, but as the top 3 girls were miles ahead of the rest she was a definate medal prospect, but again which one?  The girl coming 2nd (who competed in the international group all year) pulled off a fantastic routine and though Kirsten was 0.1 behind her going into finals there was no way she was going to beat her, so we were settling on 3rd when the girl coming 1st hit the end of the mat.  2nd place was Kristen's and the girl who hit the end still managed to come third, as  previously said the girls were a long way ahead of the rest.
So yet again another happy girl.

2nd Individual Trampoline

So in the end Kristen came home with two NZ titles and a second place.

North Island Champion

Yay! Not long home from the 2011 New Zealand North Island Trampoline Championships here in Gisborne and what a weekend.  Kristen got two titles along with the Gold medal in the 15-16yrs Double-Mini Trampoline and 17yr+  Syncronised Trampoline and Silver in the 15-16yr Individual Trampoline.  No photos as I spent the whole time marshalling and the last thing on my mind was photos.
Well Done Kristen!!

Northern Trampoline Championships

Over the weekend Kristen and I headed up to Auckland again for the Northern Trampoline Championships held at the North Shore Events Centre.  Again we flew up which is great as it takes just under an hour to get to Auckland, compared to approx 6 hrs by car.

Anyway Kristen done pretty well.  Gold in both Double-mini Trampoline and Syncro Trampoline and Bronze in Individual Trampoline...missing out on silver by 0.1 of a mark.

Collecting Gold for Syncro Trampoline (not her partner with her as she had to drive back to Gisborne)
Bronze for Individual Trampoline

Gold for Double-Mini Trampoline

And while up there I snuck away to Spotlight and got myself a nice new quilters ruler. YAY!!!

Icon Invitional Trampoline Competition

Last weekend Kristen and I flew up to Auckland for the first trampoline competition of the year.  When we came home on the Sunday it was with 3 medals...gold, silver and bronze.  Obviously Kristen was very happy with this.  She also easily qualified for NZ National Championships again for the 5th year running.

Of course we left a nice fine day in Gisborne to get to Auckland and it was raining.  Oh well, at least the mall was just across the carpark.

Kristen's Syncro Trampoline at New Zealand National Championships 2010

Well only last night I realised that you could post video's on here so I thought to let you watch Kristen and Mitra in their 2nd placing for 13-14yr old Syncro at the 2010 NZ National Championships.
First is their set routine which everyone has to do and then their is their voluntary routine which is a combination of 10 skills they can make up.

It's Been A While and Lots Of Happenings

Wow I haven't posted for nearly two months.  So what have I been doing? Since my last post I ventured to Mystery Creek with Kristen and she competed at the New Zealand Gymsport National Championships.  She competed in the Trampoline and done pretty well.  2nd in 13-14yr Syncro; 7th in 13-14yr Double-Mini (with a major save on her last pass) and 10th in 13-14 yr Individual Trampoline and this one was a very close one with 0.2 seperating between 6th to 10th before finals.

Also I have been sewing a couple of item for the Home Industries section for the local A&P Show a couple of weeks ago.  I got a 1st in the Small Wall Hanging.  The pattern came with a button swap I done a few months ago on the Craft Forum I belong to.  Apparently lots of people liked the little saying on it.

Also I entered a Premature Baby Quilt which I got 2nd in and this was donated to the local NeoNatal Unit

Then last weekend the whole family went to Rotorua and both kids competed in the last Trampoline competition for the year and Kristen came home with a Gold and Silver and Anthony a Silver.  It was Anthony's first competition in over 2 years as he had quit and has justed started trampoline up again, so he done pretty well.

While in Rotorua we went to Paradise Valley for a visit and the kids got to pat the lion cub and feed a variety of animals.  I of course got to cuddle the very friendly Donkey.

Oh and I can not forget that I have spent lots on material and bits and peices.  Spotlight last weekend had a great sale on and I got material at $2 metre. So glad I was in Rotorua as we don't have one here.  Also hubby bought me a cutting mat for my birthday.

Look .....what fun!

Look at what I received in the mail.  Some of my order from Hancocks of Paducah.  I love Moda Fabric!!

Also I received my item from the last swap I was in at the Craft Forum.  This is a lovely needle case I received from Farmnan62 aka Robyn.

At school my daughter has decided to do Textiles this semester.  This is what she has made first of and is currently in the process of making another pair.  She loves her all-in-ones pj's.

And talking of daughter.  We went up to Auckland last weekend for a Trampoline competition, she done pretty well again and all with a sore ankle.  1st in syncro, 3rd in individual and 5th in double-mini.  Nationals are next month so hopefully she maintains her form.
