Some Old Photos

Just the other day hubby's mother sent up some old photo's of him, some of his school reports ....great reading..... and some other bit and bobs.  Reminded me of my box of photo's my mum gave to my sister's and I a couple of xmas's ago when we were altogether.  He are some of my favourites of me.  Yes I can be quite vain....but wasn't I adorable?

 Look at what I received in the mail.  Some of my order from Hancocks of Paducah.  I love Moda Fabric!!

 Also I received my item from the last swap I was in at the Craft Forum.  This is a lovely needle case I received from Farmnan62 aka Robyn.

At school my daughter has decided to do Textiles this semester.  This is what she has made first of and is currently in the process of making another pair.  She loves her all-in-ones pj's.

And talking of daughter.  We went up to Auckland last weekend for a Trampoline competition, she done pretty well again and all with a sore ankle.  1st in syncro, 3rd in individual and 5th in double-mini.  Nationals are next month so hopefully she maintains her form.

I Have Been Busy

Last night I got stuck into my  "Love Is" BOM.  I had stitched six of them already, but finished up to block 12 last night. Then tonight I have sewn the borders on, then I sewed the blocks together.  This is the half way mark.  Looking forward to the next 12 blocks and finishing it of.  This is the first BOM I have ever done and I am enjoying it.

Also during the week I finally finished knitting my daughter's scarf for school, which she has so patiently been waiting for.  Will keep her warm on those chilly mornings and it is so soft too.

Recently on the Craft Forum we had a "Designer Swap" where we had to make something by the designer Bronwyn Hayes or Leanne Beasley. This is the Quilters bag I sent to Ondrea made from a design by Leanne Beasley.  It is a rather large bag with a pocket on the side too.  The pattern I found in a old Homespun I had. 

Family

Well I haven't had time for much crafting lately.  Slowly stitching away on my Designer Swap item as part of the Craft Forum.  Last week I went down to my parents place to stay, as my Aunty passed away.  It was great to catch up with my sister's from Australia and also see all my cousins together for the first time in 13 years.  The photo below shows all of us except for my brother Michael and cousin Steven as they had to leave to go to work before we thought of the idea to take this photo.

Also I got to see my nephew Jesse for the first time.  It's hard to believe we nearly lost him when he was a couple of weeks old.

And only two days before my Aunty's funeral my brother and his partner had a baby girl named Nevaeh-Grace. 

My dad and brother don't dress up much so I had to take some photos of them too.

Finally, when we got home from my parents look what was in the mail for me.  I finally received my order from Nordic Needle.  It had been on backorder for a while as they were waiting on one item.  I can now fill in those gaps on my Mirabilia x-stitch.

Family

Well here is a pic of my Dad (the one with glasses) and his brother and sisters.  This was taken last month at my Aunty Robyn (the one standing) and Uncle Graeme's 50th wedding anniversary. There is a 14 yr age difference between Dad and Aunty Robyn so Dad is the baby of the family.  It was fab to get this photo as it will be the last get together the family will be able to have.

Some WIP......

Well I am slowly doing my Mirabilia 'Woodland Fairy' cross stitch.  I am really hoping I will finish it this year.  I have ordered the last of the supplies I needed from Nordic Needle a fab web site in America.

At the moment I am also working on a table runner using the disappearing nine-patch method.  The material is Moda's 'Fig & Plum'.

When my free-motioning quilting foot turns up in the mail I am going to have a go at quilting these but will practice first.

Look at What I've Got

Anthony was coming home from his holiday last Friday so after much swapping and changing plans I ended up picking him up from Hastings in the Hawkes Bay which is half way for both sides.  This also allowed me to go to Spotlight and I had my Spotlight $40 off if you spend over $100 voucher too.  So with Anthony pushing the trolley I went shopping.  And this is what I ended up with, minus the glue which Anthony has got.

Just A Little Project

At home unwell today so I rumaged through my stash of material I have collected over the years and at the bottom I came across some towelling I had purchased a long time ago.  Luckily I had matching material so I though I would make my self a hanging dishtowel and fortunately I had enough to make two.

PETS

Oh and I thought you might want to see a pic of our two cats.  One who drives me insane sometimes as she likes sleeping anywhere and everywhere.  Tesse is the grey one I have just mentioned  and Kitten is the tabby though not a kitten anymore but 8 years old.

And here is a pic of the rabbit called Rabs my son got from the SPCA about 6 years ago.  He looks after it himself, though when it gets out everyone has to run around the section and PADDOCK to catch him.

Graduation

Earlier today I travelled down to Hastings (3 hours away)  for my Graduation ceremony.  I was receiving my Post Graduate Diploma in Health Science.

Where's The Remote???

Not long ago I got some Moda Jelly Roll material for this project. My son absolutely loved it and kept on asking me when was I going to make it and now I have and the remotes are easily found because everyone uses this. This pattern was found in Among The Gum Trees blog. I did however, have a mishap with the sewing machine doing this. So eager was I to sew the strips I did not give it second thought that the needle was to one side and kept on sewing only to discover when I had finished I did not have 1/4" seams. Hence a smaller holder but perfect for our 3 main remotes.

A Couple of Finishes

I bought a charm pack a couple of weeks ago.  I already had an idea what I wanted to do with them.  First up I was going to try to do a Disappearing 9-patch which Rachel from from p.s. I quilt gave a great tutorial for.  Only little to start with but I enjoyed doing it. Only had a couple of hick ups making it, for instance I slipped with the rotary cutter half way cutting a block. 

The other I made was a grocery bag dispenser which Rachel at p.s. i quilt also designed and can be found at Moda Bake Shop along with many other great

designs.  It was so easy to make.

My Cross Stitch Blog

I decided to do another blog for my cross stitch.  You can have a look by clicking on the link on the side.

Well last night I finally finished this cross stitch which I started on quite a while ago.  Just have to get a matboard and frame it.

This cross stitch I completed a while ago but have never got around to framing it.  Done this today. 

Another cross stitch I have completed but have done nothing with is Cinnamon below.  I have decided to put this one into a cushion.

Look what I got in the mail today.  This Simplicity charm pack by 3 Sisters for Moda is going to be used to attempt my first disappearing 9-patch

Mirabila's 'The Woodland Fairy'

Well this is my large wip.  I have not done this in a long long while, but am now wanting to finish it.  I do have another cross stitch on the go currently so will start this after I finish.  I think I have done approx 60hrs on her.
